The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the traditional festivals in China. It is established to commemorate Qu Yuan an ancient patriotic poet in China. On this day people participate in dragon boat races eat zongzi (sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves) and hang Artemisia leaves. One year I celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with my family. We woke up early and went to the river to watch the dragon boat races. We saw many colorful dragon boats fiercely competing on the water. The competition was intense and the spectators cheered loudly. In the afternoon we went back home and together we made zongzi. We wrapped glutinous rice red beans and other fillings in bamboo leaves and tied them with string. Finally we enjoyed the delicious zongzi together experiencing the festive atmosphere.
