Once upon a time there was a little girl named Gretel and her brother Hansel. They lived in a small village near a dense forest with their parents. One day their stepmother suggested to their father that they should take the children into the forest and leave them there for they could not afford to feed them anymore.
Hansel overheard their conversation and decided to collect some pebbles on the way to the forest. As they walked deeper into the forest he dropped the pebbles on the ground to create a trail back home. The children soon realized that they were lost and hungry but thankfully Hansel's pebble trail led them straight back to their home.
However their stepmother was not pleased and insisted that they try again another day. This time Hansel collected breadcrumbs to leave a trail back home. Unfortunately the birds had eaten all the breadcrumbs and the children were lost once again.
They stumbled upon a candy house owned by a wicked witch who promised them food and shelter. However Gretel soon realized that the witch was planning to eat them both. She came up with a plan to trick the witch and push her into the oven where she met her fiery fate.
The children managed to escape the candy house and eventually found their way back home. Their stepmother had passed away and their father welcomed them with open arms. They lived happily ever after and never forgot the lesson they learned about the dangers of greed and deception.
