高分英语作文1:waiting for the rabbit fable

Once upon a time there lived a clever fox in the forest. One winter when food was scarce the fox saw a crow perched on a tree branch holding a piece of cheese in its beak. The fox wanted the cheese for himself so he decided to trick the crow.

The fox walked up to the crow and said "Hello dear crow You are looking so beautiful today. Would you be so kind as to sing a song for me"

The crow flattered by the fox's compliment opened its beak to sing. As soon as he did the cheese fell out of his mouth and into the waiting jaws of the clever fox.

Moral of the story Beware of flattery as it often comes with a hidden motive.

The Clever Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time in a vibrant forest there lived a tortoise and a hare. The hare was known for his incredible speed while the tortoise was known for his slow and steady pace. The hare always boasted about his speed and frequently made fun of the tortoise for being so slow.

One day the hare challenged the tortoise to a race. The tortoise being a wise creature accepted the challenge. The news of their race spread quickly and all the other animals gathered at the starting line to witness this unusual contest.

As the race began the hare zoomed ahead confident that victory would come easily. The tortoise on the other hand took his time slowly and steadily making his way forward. The hare feeling overconfident decided to take a nap under a shady tree thinking he had plenty of time to win.

Meanwhile the tortoise continued walking at his own pace not bothered by the hare's swift start. He knew that consistency and determination would win the race. The other animals including a wise old owl were amazed by the tortoise's perseverance.

When the hare woke up from his nap he was shocked to see that the tortoise was close to the finish line. He sprinted as fast as he could but it was too late. The tortoise crossed the finish line before the hare could catch up.

The animals cheered for the tortoise admiring his determination and consistency. The wise old owl approached the hare and said "Remember slow and steady wins the race. Your speed alone cannot guarantee success."

The hare humbled by his defeat learned a valuable lesson that day. From then on he respected the tortoise's abilities and never made fun of him again.
