As is vividly depicted in the picture above a worker is removing a word from a book with a pair of scissors. Judging from the facial expressions of the people in the picture it seems that they are carrying out the task with a sense of duty and seriousness.
Censorship as one of the most debated social issues has long been a topic of great concern. Some people believe that censorship is necessary to maintain social order and protect individuals from harmful information. However in my opinion censorship does more harm than good.
To begin with censorship violates freedom of speech which is a fundamental human right. Everyone should have the right to express their opinions and ideas freely without fear of censorship. Moreover censorship hinders the development of knowledge and creativity. It limits people's access to information and prevents new ideas and perspectives from emerging.
In conclusion censorship is not the solution to social problems. It is a hindrance to the development of society and individuals. Instead we should focus on nurturing critical thinking and educating people to deal with information in a rational and responsible way. Only in this way can we create a society that values diversity and progress.
